Livelihood and Skill Development

Despite efforts to promote inclusivity, persons with disabilities often encounter barriers when seeking employment. Discrimination, lack of accessible workplaces, and inadequate skill development programs contribute to their limited job prospects. Many employers hesitate to hire persons with disabilities due to misconceptions about their capabilities.

Access to quality education has also remained a challenge. While some progress has been made, there’s still a significant gap in educational opportunities for Divyang individuals. Without proper education and vocational training, transitioning to meaningful employment becomes difficult.

Due to the deep-rooted societal attitudes, persons with disabilities faces stigma, stereotypes, and exclusion. It is necessary to have a changing mindset and fostering a more inclusive environment is crucial for their economic empowerment. Lack of Accessibility of physical infrastructure, transportation, and public spaces often hinders Divyang individuals’ mobility and participation in economic activities.

It is true that many Divyang individuals are excluded from formal banking systems. It is necessary to promoting financial literacy and creating tailored financial products to address this gap. Encouraging entrepreneurship and self-employment among Divyang individuals can empower them economically. However, they often lack the necessary training and mentorship.

Addressing these challenges requires a multi-pronged approach: policy reforms, awareness campaigns, skill development, and fostering an inclusive mindset.

  • To promote social inclusion and equal participation of differently abled people through recreational and social activities.
  • To provide Mental healthcare services and therapies to address the specific needs of the Divyang community.
  • To offer support, guidance, and opportunities by providing vocational training sessions.
  • To boost self-confidence and raise awareness of different life skills for livelihood.
